Community Coordinator/Victim Services Coordinator

Advocates for a Violence-Free Community is a small nonprofit located in Grand County, Colorado. Our mission is to end domestic and sexual violence in the Grand County Community. To accomplish this mission, Advocates provides extensive victim support services, information, prevention education, and community awareness. Advocates is looking to expand services and add a new member to the team.

The ideal candidate for the Community Coordinator position is self driven and possesses the ability to work independently and on a team. The candidate will have a focus on team collaboration and is invested in the agency’s mission and future goals. Position Summary

The Community Coordinator/Victim Services Coordinator is responsible for community engagement and partnerships, acting as a liaison between our agency and other businesses and organizations. The coordinator will be the primary contact for community outreach and partners, fundraising, and provide direct advocacy services to domestic violence and sexual assault victims. The coordinator will report to the Executive Director.

Educational Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or other related degree or lived experience preferred, Spanish Speaking preferred

Community Engagement and Partnerships

  • Build relationships and be the agency liaison for businesses and organizations in the community
  • Attend community networking events to increase our overall presence in the community
  • Participate in local committee meetings that align with our agency goals and mission
  • Establish and maintain yearly contracts and MOUs with outside professional services
  • Ensure that Chamber of Commerce event pages have our updated events information

Community Outreach and Education

  • Organize and implement awareness raising campaigns/events for the community throughout the year
  • Promote general community awareness through social media, newsletters, newspaper articles, and radio spots
  • Create and present individualized training for employers, businesses, and Law Enforcement
  • Attend outreach events such as health fairs, art fairs, and other events where Advocates can raise awareness of services available to victims
  • Assist in creating and distributing the quarterly newsletter

Direct Victim Services

  • Complete the required training hours for domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy work
  • Understand and maintain client confidentiality
  • Effectively communicate with people who may be in crisis on and off scene
  • Cover weekday/weeknight and weekend crisis line shifts as scheduled
  • Provide case management services to clients including education and information to support informed, self directed choices
  • Maintain and update client records in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist in collecting and entering client statistics for program management and grant reporting
  • Assist the Shelter Manager with safehouse cleanliness, maintenance, and upkeep
  • Attend ongoing trainings to develop knowledge and expertise regarding intimate partner violence, sexual violence, human trafficking and stalking

Other Duties

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Director on budget management and fundraising
  • Understand, support, and implement organization initiatives and strategic plans
  • Coordinate Taste of Spring and other fundraising events

Abilities

  • Ability to represent the agency in the public in a professional and appropriate manner
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Proficient writing skills
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to operate a computer and software for word documents, spreadsheets, presentations, email, internet research, data entry and data management
  • Availability to work some evenings, weekends, or overnights (on-call or part of a regular schedule)
