Lily Wood

Lily is a candidate for the County.  She has experienced abuse...and life in a shelter as a homeless pet.  She has compassion for those that need their forever home...a safe home.  She believes everyone deserves those basic fundamental rights and will work hard, if elected, to make that possible for as many animals and humans as possible.  A vote for Lily is a vote for YOU!

ROSEY FRYE

I am a Pupasaurus Rex (Red Fox Labrador Retriever) born on February 15, 2012. I came home to my forever home in Grand County on April 15, 2012. A true Colorado dog, I love long walks on the Fraser River Trail, listening to the birds by the river, watching geese and ducks fly over, sleeping on the couch with my buddy Mariah, riding in the car to the bank – where I get doggie bones, playing stick, retrieving the ball, playing tug of war with my rope toy, playing on the treadmill chasing mommy, and chewing everything that I can get my teeth into (hey I’m teething!) I am working with my Mom as marketing manager – learning the ropes so to say – and this is my first real test – raising money for the Grand County Advocates for a Violence-Free Community and Grand County Pet Pals. I am very happy to be nominated as a candidate for Grand Dog 2012 by my mommy.

MARILYN RADCLIFFE

My name is Marilyn and I am a one year old Malti-Poo mix. I am very cute and sassy. Originally I came from Cherry Creek in Denver. My parents bought me out of a wagon right outside of Crickets. I like it a lot here in the mountains though. I care for all of the people of Grand County. Well that is really not true. I care mostly for myself. My favorite movie is "Some Like it Hot".

CODY SERVOSS

Cody would like to throw his collar in the ring for 2012 Grand Dog. Cody has some pretty big paws to fill, following in the pawsteps of Riley, the one-eyed-wonder-dog who was a finalist in the last Grand Dog competition.

Sadly, Riley passed away shortly after the campaign ended. His people, Judi Servoss and Joel Carmichael, do not do well without a Golden Retriever in their lives, and shortly after losing Riley, Cody just happened to appear at Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies.

Four-year-old Cody is the complete opposite of Riley, who was a stray with huge health and emotional issues. Cody was relinquished for adoption by a soldier who was being deployed to Afghanistan and wanted the most stable, secure future for this Golden boy. He was well-trained, and clearly had been loved. As a result, he is happy, healthy and ready for whatever comes his way.

As Cody’s campaign manager, Judi has no doubt that he will take on this challenge as he takes on everything in life---full out! Although Cody’s favorite things in life are mud, snow and water, people and parties are not far behind. He will happily hop in the car and attend any event to schmooze with people and dogs, pose for pictures, and shamelessly beg for donations. As a rescue, he understands the importance of supporting groups like Pet Pals and Advocates, to keep our pets and families healthy and happy. We think he’s already a Grand Dog, and he will work hard to earn the official recognition!

RILEY ZINK

As I am most certainly the Grand Dame of Grand County, I am running for Grand Dog. At 13 years young, I have been there and done that –hiked Byers Peak, Devil’s Thumb & St. Louis Lake, swam in the Fraser River, been poked by those pesky porcupines a few times & have even been nipped in the butt by a coyote. So now, after a short walk down the driveway to retrieve the morning paper, I like to snooze on my settee outside the garage, bask in the sun, bark at the interesting smell and I most definitely pick and choose my adventures. When the weather turns cold, I take over the living room couch and am most put out when I have to skooch over to make room for one of my owners. I make them pay, however, with my “more please” trick. After one of my family has rubbed my ears, I subtly lift a paw and touch their hand. They think it is so cute, that they pet me again. Once they stop, I lift the paw again. For maximum results, it’s best to do this with eyes shut. Pet - Paw - Repeat. I have my family trained to do this daily.

Regarding my campaign promises, I’d like to start with “Chocolate Cake for All!” I’ll think of some more once I can stop dreaming of cake.

Vote for me, Riley, the Grand Dame of Grand County!

HERMAN of GRANBY VET CLINIC

WE ARE SAD TO ANNOUNCE THAT HERMAN HAS SWUM AWAY TO THE BIG OCEAN IN THE SKY.  YOU MAY CONTINUE TO VOTE FOR HIM, ALTHOUGH HE WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO WIN THE ELECTION.  SWIM AWAY, HERMAN!

If you are thinking there is something fishy about this whole Grand Dog thing, you would be right; IT IS ME!

I started working at Granby Veterinary Clinic just this year. You may be rolling your eyes and thinking to yourself “yeah, the FISH WORKS at a clinic”, but I promise you, I really do! These ladies have taught me to swim through a hoop and push a miniature basketball around for my pay (food).

Working here I see a lot of animals come and go every day. I have realized that not all of them are lucky enough to have a nice cushy tank with a castle to live in, where all they have to do is swim through a hoop to get a bloodworm. Luckily they have friends right here in Grand County to help them. Pet Pals makes it possible for my co-workers Dr. Tasillo, Deb, Chris, and Clover to do everything they can to make life better for the animals living outside of my tank.

I am so grateful I have a safe forever home at the Clinic that I want to help the animals not so fortunate by raising money for Pet Pals!

SCRUFFY NABHAN

Hello there! My name is Scruffy Nabhan and I am running for Grand Dog. You may also know me by Scruff, McScruff, Scruffy Doodle, Doodle Bug or “SCRUFFY PUT THAT DOWN AND GET BACK HERE!” It seems like everyone that meets me gives me a new endearing name. This time of year, I spend most of my days protecting the community from the grossly understated threat of the miniature Grand County ground squirrel. Don’t be fooled by their size. I will not give up until I have successfully thwarted their plans for world domination. When taking a break from my duties; I enjoy playing with my family, sunning myself on the deck and boating. I was recently promoted to first mate due to my responsible nature…..and because my sisters abandon ship to go swimming at every opportunity.

If elected Grand Dog, I will promote healthy, safe and happy homes for all of the people and pets of Grand County. Hope to meet you on the campaign trail. Feel free to come by and pet me. I’ll be the cute little guy shaking hands and kissing babies! Can I count on your vote?

FARFALLA DEVLIN-LININ

My name is Farfalla and I’m an Italian Sheepdog (technically, Bergamasco). I started out as a soft fuzzy puppy but by the time I moved to Grand County in 2006, my three types of hair were already forming flocks. Now strangers call me “Rasta Dog” or “Bob Marley Dog.”

I think I’d be a great Grand Dog because I make people happy. People always smile or laugh when they see me, with two exceptions -- once a person mistook me for a shag carpet, and the other time, hikers thought I was a bear.

I am Grand County mellow. I enjoy the outdoors and I don’t pant the small stuff. I’ve also picked up some Grand County wisdom—don’t get all cuddly with porcupines. Please vote for me. Ciao.

BELLA CRIBARI-FRENCH

VOTE BELLA 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Meet “Bella” the Official Greeter at The Wild Horse Inn Bed & Breakfast. A resident of Grand County since December 2011, Bella is originally from Aztec, NM. She resided for a short time at the Humane Society of Boulder County and is just under 3 years old. That is 21 in dog years, so buy her a beer if you see her out and about.

Bella was adopted by Wild Horse Inn owners, John Cribari & Chris French. She is best described as a “Muttweiler Mix”or a “Mountain Mongrel”. Weighing in at 31lbs, Bella is a bit of cattle dog mixed with sweetness, love and enthusiasm. Bella recently completed over 100 miles on the Colorado Trail with Chris and can be found running or hiking with Chris, biking with John, retrieving sticks or just lazing about the Inn.

In addition to being ready to do anything, Bella is a Great Ambassador for Grand County. All of our visitors here at Wild Horse Inn love her and we routinely have to make sure they have not packed her in their luggage. She is also very industrious as she has opened her own home made toothpick factory in our back yard putting the beetle kill wood to good use. Chew, chew, chew!!!

Vote Bella for Grand Dog 2012!!!!!!!

JEREMY WILLIAMS

My name is Jeremy and I was hit by a car when I was a puppy. I lived by myself for a year and a half on the streets of downtown Los Angeles and now my front legs are bent at a funny angle. My adoptive parents love me very much so they brought me to live in Grand Lake, where I get to play in the snow and in the soft grass. They also take me for rides in a trailer behind their bikes. It makes me smile all the time!

Vote for me and I'll make sure there's free doggie treats for everyone!!

SIRIUS HADLEYDIKE

You've probably seen me sitting around town in my red Saab so I'd like to introduce myself as a Grand Dog!  My name is Sirius, the Dog Star.  My folks found me in the Longmont pound when I was about 1 year old.  At that time my name was Tomax…how embarrassing is that!   No one had ever showed me where the bathroom was or how to play and I had really big feet.  They took a chance on me…and I can hardly remember those days.  I'm a noble mix of blood hound and Lab and now I love to hike and play.  Not only am I handsome, I'm nice to everybody.  I never met a dog or a person I didn't like.   My folks take me lots of places and when I have to wait in the car I love to bay loudly and people come and pay attention to me and feel sorry for me and think I have a terrible life.  Last week at 3:00AM I tried to tell my folks a bear had gotten into my Saab and was tearing up the back seat but they told me to hush.  Boy were they sorry the next morning.  It cost them $100 but I got a new seat for those times that I am relegated to the back.

Vote for me!! Sirius Black, the Dog Star.  You won't be sorry if I am elected Grand Dog!!!

OCHO WAMPLER

Describe a French Bulldog and some things come up over and over -– “glum expression – yet comical,” “amiable-but-bullheaded,” “entertaining,” “champion couch potato,” and "so ugly - it's cute!"  Alright the couch bit is true. However, I am NOT glum. (And don't call me "it". Ever.)

I. AM. OCHO.  Nearly three years old.  Brindle in color.  Confident.  All bully boy, despite missing a couple of key parts in that regard.

Likes:  Vacuum attacks ¨ Olives ¨ Running sideways

Dislikes:  Things on my head ¨ My brother, Tenzing ¨ Overheating

OK, I’m a clown.  But there is one thing I take very seriously, and that’s support for great causes.  As a candidate for Grand Dog, I’m darn proud to fundraise for Grand County Pet Pals and their dedication to the welfare of families and animals.  Likewise I am a fierce advocate of Advocates – for a Violence-Free Community.

Your vote for OCHO is a vote for deserving animals and people across this Grand County of ours.  A vote for OCHO means a ball in every backyard, a clean pond for wading, bacon for everyone, and money for great causes.

Vote OCHO!
